Mychell Lawson, GRRAND Marketing Coordinator, is a graduate from the University of Kentucky and a lifetime Kentuckian. Her mission in life is to make the world a better place for animals, starting with Kentucky. She believes that an improved world for animals will lead to a better existence for everyone, humans and animals. Mychell is a graphic designer and marketing specialist who’s chosen to put her skills to good use for animals. Mychell fosters, transports, coordinates transports and runs multiple animal welfare social media pages across many platforms. She works primarily with Goldens, Beagles/Hounds, special needs and senior rescue, in a network of rescues and advocates across the country.
Mychell has dedicated the last decade to animal welfare legislation progress and developing legislator relationships in her home state of Kentucky. She founded Kentucky Animal Action, an organization that strives to correct Kentucky’s animal welfare and protection inadequacies, from a legislative and legal standpoint. Kentucky Animal Action successfully passed the Jefferson County – Louisville Kentucky Extreme Weather and Hot Car ordinance in 2021, making it illegal to leave a pet outdoors in extreme weather and making it legal for a first responder (on or off duty) to rescue a pet in danger in a motor vehicle.
Mychell is married to Jamie Lawson, her partner in rescue work and raising their family of fur kids they love and adore. In her spare time, she loves to perform music in the local band Judge Angus, travel, and spend time with her family.
