Beloved Dog from Turkey, Downey, Passes Over the Rainbow Bridge

We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of our incredible Downey. Though he had been sick for a while, we lost him unexpectedly on Sept. 1, 2020. Together, we put up such a fight to help him get better. Downey rolled with every punch until the very end. He truly was the best boy.

Downey came to us from Turkey. At that time, he was known as Vince, before being moved to Cincinnati in 2017, right after his arrival in the U.S. We got just 26 months with him, but we believe, without a doubt, that he traveled from so far to find us. He loved so many things: sticks of all sizes, tennis balls, deep leg stretches, dinnertime, green beans, fluffy toys, watermelon, cheese, peanut butter treats, endless pets, long walks, long naps and car rides. And he loved every person who crossed his path. He was beautiful, playful, quirky, smart, amazingly sweet, unconditionally loving and as tough as they come. He was our heart.

It is hard to describe the aching loss. We were only blessed to have him for a short time, but the lessons of love and resiliency he taught will stay with us forever. Rest well, Downey. You will always be in our hearts.
