Beloved Companion, Axel, Passes Over the Rainbow Bridge

Axel Lipsitt passed over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, September 24, 2020.

Axel (GRRAND #3066) was hit by a car when he was a puppy and his then owners did nothing to correct any problems that may have resulted. He was placed on Craig’s list for adoption and was purchased by the Cocker Spaniel Society of Louisville and turned over to GRRAND.

We adopted him on July 11, 2011, as a present to me on my 80th birthday. We were told that he was about four years old. Axel was a very attentive friend and beloved companion. He always wanted to be in whatever room we were. He traveled well and made friends at rest stops all along the highways. He loved all the visitors to our house, but gave special attention to our sons, their children, and their wives whenever they would visit. His other special friend was Dr. Tina Stonecypher, his veterinarian.

Axels rear end weakened considerably in recent months probably due to the damage suffered many years before and soon he was almost unable to get himself up from the rugs everywhere around the house. Next, he was unable to stand long enough to walk. The end had come. He was euthanized by Dr. Stonecypher in our home on September 24, 2020.

His was a life well lived, well loved.
